August is ending summer is almost over, school is back in session. It couldn't have come sooner for me. I'm a grandparent and it's not easy to fill the shoes of their mother and fathers. Grandparents are the one's that fill in for the parents. But somehow we get overloaded with the many duties involved in helping out. Because for the summer those sweet little daring, are dropped off at our house early in morning at 7 am then you have the chore of taking and picking them up from summer camp, geting them off to summer school, and football practice, dance recital. I can remember when I use to go to grandmom's house during the summer,it was nothing like having fun. It was a different experience. My grandmother use to give me jobs to do for her, like clean the front porch, wash window, feed the chickens. Now ( tag) you're it. As a grandparent I love spending time with them. With the ipod in their ear, you talk to them and they don't hear a word you say. This generation of childrens are so hook on electronics gadget they live in a world of nothing but avatars, and vitural friends. They don't see or hear you only when it's convenience for them.
Grandparenting it's just like having a full time job, but this is the worst, I don't even get paid. In spite of the hard work I do for the sake of the grand babies, my love for them is to make sure that they are well balanced and have support in place when their parent are not there. I'm wandering if they even know that there is a day to celebrate grandparents, of cause not, those kind of things don't excite them in the least. So life goes on and we still try to embrace the change.
